1. How do I receive enquiries?
You will be notified by email when a potential purchaser has enquired about your property. You decide whether you want to make contact. You have no obligation to make contact.
2. How do I vet potential purchasers?
Always tread carefully when dealing with strangers. A little email communication to start with. When you are convinced they are serious then perhaps communication over the telephone. Take their details and call them as opposed to the other way around.
3. Don’t be afraid to ask some questions. What’s their selling situation? Do they have financed arranged?
4. Scams: Unfortunately the internet, like the real world, is awash with con artists and criminals trying to catch out the unsuspecting. You might find you get a lot of interest from ‘foreign investors’. Tread very carefully here. They may be genuine. It might be a scam. Or more seriously they may be money launderers. The rule of thumb is that if it sounds to good to be true, then it most probably is.
Common sense should prevail: if you live alone - you should arrange for a friend, family member or colleague to be present when you invite a stranger into your home.
